Property annexed for Mineola homes
A new housing addition is in the works in Mineola.
The city council approved annexation of 10.24 acres off FM 1254 Monday that is planned as a housing development of around 30 homes.
The homes have a target price range of $150,000 to $180,000 to be developed by PLM Homes LLC whose partners are Elaine and Mitch West and Peter Woolford.
West said the land has been in her family (Blackmon), and it was her father’s dream to develop it as a subdivision.
She said his legacy will be carried on with the name, Blackmon Meadows.
As part of the municipal services agreement for the property, the city plans to install a sewer lift station.
The council also approved extending the emergency disaster declaration to be in line with the state’s and county’s orders for the COVID-19 pandemic.
West said that with the impact of building prices by the outbreak unknown, the goal is to keep the housing prices below $200,000.
