QDC parts ways with executive

The Quitman Development Corp. (QDC) met in a special meeting last Thursday and voted to end its oral independent contractor agreement with Denea Hudman as its executive director.

A brief email from the QDC stated, “On Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, the Quitman Development Corporation Board of Directors voted to end its oral independent contractor agreement with Denea Hudman as its Executive Director. The Board continues to strive to continue the success of the QDC in the furtherance of its mission to promote economic growth and health in Quitman and in the community generally. “

The board met for only a few minutes and did not go into executive session. Brad Medlin made the motion to end the oral agreement with Hudman, Kevan Burroughs made the second and the vote was unanimous.

Board members at the meeting were Medlin, Burroughs, Steve Strazniki, Greg Eberhart, Martha Scroggins and Randy Duncan. Board member David Dobbs was unable to attend the meeting.

In her five years as executive director, Hudman has never had a written contract agreement with the QDC. No reason was given for the termination of the oral independent contractor agreement.

The QDC denied further statements concerning the termination because of possible court litigation. Hudman said she could not comment at this time.
