A funeral service is planned for Gary E. Garner, 66, Quitman at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25 at Cartwright Baptist Church at 267 County Road 4896 in Winnsboro with Cody Mize officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 24 at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola.

Mr. Garner died on Friday, April 21, 2017 in Tyler. He was born on Monday, December 4, 1950 in Dallas to the late Edgar Burl and Mary Garner. He was a member of the Cartwright Baptist Church, Winnsboro, was retired from the U.S. Army and a member of the Gus Garrison Masonic Lodge #1213.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward Garner and Carl Garner.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Beth Garner; three sons, James Garner of Quitman, Michel Garner of Navasota and Danny Garner of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Samantha Garner of Quitman; brother, Glen Fred Garner of Kaufman County; three sisters, Carolyn Sue Garner of Temple, Doris Edwards of Athens, Pat Fields of Grandview; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Interment will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
