QISD awards bids for improvement projects
The Quitman ISD school board acted quickly on an agenda which included new playground equipment for the elementary campus Monday.
The board approved $56,000 awarded to PTI Sports and Recreation for new playground equipment, and the company will also relocate current equipment to give the area a more cohesive look.
The money for the project was in the budget.
Also at the elementary school, Winn Tile Company was awarded a $28,000 bid to replace the carpet in the hallway corridors with tile.
The board approved $43,300 for the HVAC roof system replacement at Ballard Gym.
A $28,000 grant from the Texas Rules Schools Program for rural and low income districts was approved for the purchase of a third grade reading curriculum.
New band instruments (flutes and clarinets), at a cost of $15,950, was approved for the band program.
