QISD earns state recognition
Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Commissioner Sid Miller recently contacted Quitman ISD to congratulate them on achieving Best of the Bunch designation for 2019.
The honor was part of the TDA Farm Fresh Challenge. QISD was honored for its commitment to teaching children about healthy lifestyles using Texas agriculture.
About 20 percent of Texas school districts and charter organizations participated in the Farm Fresh Challenge. In addition to teaching children about healthy lifestyles, participating schools spent nearly $15 million on Texas products during the challenge.
Choosing to buy local foods supports the Texas economy, contributes to job growth and keeps businesses in the state thriving.
