Quitman ISD enlisted the help of a motivational speaker for its annual convocation to give administration and staff fresh teaching strategies this school year.

Hal Bowman presented his “Teach Like a Rock Star” workshop to QISD staff Aug. 13 in the high school auditorium. Bowman has over 20 years experience in the classroom and has spent the last 10 years presenting workshops to schools across the nation. He is the president and founder of Hal Bowman Inc. from Houston.

“Teach Like a Rock Star” is a research-based, results-driven professional development event to give educators strategies and resources to create an extraordinary learning environment for students, according to Bowman’s website.

Superintendent Rhonda Turner believes Bowman’s presentation greatly benefited the Quitman educators.

“Hal has a unique ability to tell stories that resonate with teachers and thus impacts the approach a teacher takes in the classroom,” Turner said. “Connecting with students is a constant theme in his full day training and one of the strategies that he emphasizes must exist for an extraordinary classroom experience to occur.”

In his presentation, Bowman inspired educators to have an impact on their students’ lives and help kids improve both their academic and personal achievements.

Some of the predicted results of this particular workshop include raising test scores throughout diverse populations, finding the underlying motivation of a student, building strong connections with all students and uncovering the rock star teacher that lies within, according to his website.
