Quitman athletic boosters assist HS, JH programs

Quitman Athletic Booster Club had a successful year of donations going back into the program to provide needed resources for junior high and high school athletes.

Volunteers raised a total of $11,191.06 for improvements ranging from baseball uniforms to volleyball poles.

The members raised $1,350 for girls’ weight belts, $1,500 for volleyball poles, $5,300 for basketball rebound machines, $776 for volleyball pullovers, $265.06 for recumbent bikes and $2,000 for baseball uniforms.

The club is an all volunteer organization made up of parents, grandparents, administrators and community members of Quitman High School and Junior High athletes. Members donate their time at events and fundraisers to strengthen the athletic department.

Club members raise funds with membership fees, merchandise sales and concession sales.

Booster club members welcome any help from community members wanting to volunteer. For those who are interested, you can contact the booster club through Facebook at the Quitman Athletic Booster Club page.

The next event will be Meet the Bulldogs on Aug. 9. The club will provide membership information and have new t-shirts and hats for this year.

The club will also sell pulled pork tacos from a booth at the Old Settlers Reunion.
