The Quitman Bulldogs ended their season with a pair of shut-out losses to District 12-3A champion Edgewood. Edgewood ended district play with a perfect 10-0 record and were 28-5 on the year. Quitman ended district play 3-7.
In Tuesday night’s loss, Quitman got one hit from Ty Holland. Edgewood took a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning and finished the game with five runs claiming a 10-0 win. Edgewood had nine base hits in the game. Ben Burroughs took the loss on the mound for Quitman.
Friday night’s game saw Edgewood’s Cooper Hill shut down Quitman allowing no hits. Turner Bannister had a pair of hits to lead Edgewood. Senior A.J. Dunn started on the mound for Quitman and held Edgewood to four hits. Holland came on in relief in the fifth inning giving up a pair of hits.
Leading 7-0, Edgewood scored nine runs in the top of the fifth to take a five-inning 16-0 win. Quitman had no hits and Edgewood had six hits in the game. Quitman committed nine errors in the contest.
