Posted

Quitman-Lake Fork Kiwanis Club will host its “A Fantasy Christmas” parade in Quitman this Saturday, Dec. 8.

This year’s route starts at Quitman High School at 2 p.m. and ends at Governor Jim Hogg City Park.

The Wood County Honor Guard, the Dogwood queen and princesses, Quitman Volunteer Fire Department and several other fire departments will be among the parade participants.

Entrants should assemble in the back of QHS beginning at noon.

Only one live Santa is allowed in the parade and he will be riding on the Quitman Volunteer Fire Department fire truck. Judging of the floats will start at 1:30 p.m. Entrants who want to be considered must be in the designated area and ready at 1:15 p.m.

Since the parade is during the day, Kiwanis is asking people in the parade to throw candy or other items far enough so it lands off the roadway.
