Quitman FFA fares well at Mineola District Convention
Quitman FFA sent 20 members to the Mineola District FFA Convention held in Lindale Jan. 10. The convention consisted of 24 schools from Wood, Van Zandt, Smith and Rains Counties. There were over 305 members and guests in attendance.
Quitman sophomore Brayden Sessions was chosen Mineola District President for 2017-2018 out of 12 contestants vying for the post. “Another huge accomplishment for Quitman FFA was junior Lane Blalock being selected to the 2017-18 Area Officer Team. Lane will run against other area officers at the Area Convention Feb. 27 to determine what office he will hold,” Quitman Agriculture teacher Brant Lee said.
There were nine talent teams competing at the district convention and Quitman’s Haleigh Mitchell, a freshman, took home first place honors will be advance to the area to compete. “Many other Quitman LDE teams got recognized at the district convention for their outstanding performances on their LDE teams,” Lee added.
