Quitman families benefit from Project Wishbone
Families in Wood County served by Monarch Utilities, a subsidiary of SouthWest Water Company, received ready-to-cook food baskets for Thanksgiving this year as part of the Project Wishbone program launched in 2012 to qualified Monarch customers who may not be able to afford a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
Recently, pre-registered customers in Quitman received a basket filled with everything needed to prepare the family dinner. Monarch employees distributed the food baskets to their customers, who chose between turkey or ham and included traditional dinner side dishes.
“This is the seventh year we’ve carried out Project Wishbone, an amazing program that allows us to give back to local families we serve across the state, who otherwise would not have been able to afford a Thanksgiving meal,” Ronniea Tycer, director of communications and customer care at SouthWest Water Company, said. “We’re grateful to be able to continue to serve those in need during the holiday season.”
This year, SouthWest Water Company distributed a total of 132 food baskets in 23 Texas counties.
