Quitman Garden Club readies annual red geranium sale

Every year for decades the Quitman Garden Club sale of bright red geraniums has brightened landscapes and streets. The success of the sales has made it possible to give high school graduates a chance at one of the three $1,000 scholarships.

The sale has provided for donations to fire departments in Quitman, Hawkins, Hainesville, Holly Lake, Yantis and Winnsboro and to the CS Food Pantry in Quitman. All this for just $7 a plant.

The sale continues through March 25 and orders must be prepaid. Orders may be placed by email at QuitmanGardenClub@gmail.com or by calling 903-763-8353. Delivery will be April 1, or plants may be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at Jim Hogg Park Pavilion that day.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
