Mia Nixon of Martin’s Mill and J.T. Rucker of Grand Saline won the Alba-Golden Golf Invitational individual titles March 11 at the Mineola Country Club. Each shot an excellent round of 80 to capture their divisions.

Quitman garners second at Alba-Golden golf invite
Mia Nixon of Martin’s Mill and J.T. Rucker of Grand Saline won the Alba-Golden Golf Invitational individual titles March 11 at the Mineola Country Club. Each shot an excellent round of 80 to capture their divisions.
The Mineola Country Club hosted 47 golfers from Alba-Golden, Brownsboro, Grand Saline, Lone Oak, Martin’s Mill, Medalist Golf Club, Quitman, and Rains for the invitational.
The tourney commenced under cloudy skies and cool temperatures, but the day warmed and provided good conditions.
Rains High School took the boys team title while Martin’s Mill scored first place in the girls team competition.
Quitman placed second in the boys and girls team standings.
Kyle Bacon of Rains shot an 81 and Quitman’s Josh Medlin shot an 84 to capture second and third places respectively.
Julia Simpkins of Quitman and Sarah Dillard of Martin’s Mill earned the second and third place honors in the girls tournament.
