Quitman High School will welcome a new assistant principal in the fall.
Justin Cowart was recently hired for the position after 14 years in education at Lindale ISD.
“When I first heard there was a job opening at Quitman High School I became excited. Quitman is a great district and I wanted to move into an assistant principal role,” he said. “This is a great opportunity for me to do that with a great district.”
At Lindale, Cowart taught at the junior high and started as a science teacher and coach. He spent 11 years teaching science and the last three teaching several electives.
His goal is to be supportive of QHS Principal Dana Hamrick and the school staff.
“Mrs. Hamrick is our campus leader, and I will do everything in my power to make her successful. We will work together to support our staff so that they are effective at their jobs,” Cowart said. “Success in this support will result in an increase in student achievement and our campus goals will be met.”
He’s looking forward to being a part of a great and welcoming district.
“During my interview, I could clearly see that this is a staff that gets along with one another well. This plays a huge role in our campus culture and will allow me to build relationships with our staff quickly,” he said. “I’m looking forward to working alongside the teachers and staff at Quitman High School.”
Cowart explained that one of the most important issues in education is training effective teachers.
“Effective educators have higher outcomes from their students. They also have fewer discipline problems in the classroom. In addition, they’re building meaningful instruction for daily growth of their students,” he said. “We, as a campus, must work diligently to accomplish this in the 2019-2020 year.”
