• Sampler Week is continuing at Mineola League of the Arts through Friday. Call the league to get in on the classes at 903-569-8877.

• Hot cars, cool treats, live entertainment is on tap for the final Thursday Night Car Cruise at the Quitman Dairy Queen.

• Wood County’s Ebenezer Cemetery Memorial Day meeting will be Saturday at Ebenezer Baptist Church at1420 North Farm-to-Market 14 east of Quitman. The program begins at 10 a.m. The will be a potluck lunch and everyone is welcome.

• Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ will hold a worship service Saturday from 5-8 p.m. in the pavilion at Jim Hogg City Park and the public is invited.

• On Friday the League of Women Voters of Tyler/Smith County will celebrate the 96th anniversary of the 19th Amendment of the U.S.  Constitution giving women the right to vote. The celebration will take place 5 to 8 p.m. at the Tyler Public Library at 210 S. College Street in Tyler.

• High school football begins this Friday. Mineola hosts Van, Quitman visits Big Sandy, Alba-Golden hosts Hawkins and Winnsboro travels to West Rusk. All games are scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
