A successful year of athletics was celebrated by over 250 people at the annual Quitman athletic banquet at Carroll Green Civic Center last Tuesday night.

Athletic Director Shane Webber set the tone with a positive outlook on the past year and the anticipation and confidence of the future for Bulldog sports teams.

The stage was filled with trophies and honors earned this year. “Let me tell you something. Look up here on the stage and this wasn’t evident last year. We have cross country championships, we have basketball and volleyball champions, we have track championships, second in regional power lifting and softball championships and we have five athletes going to compete in the state track meet,” Webber noted. “Look at this stage and it’s your kids who are doing this. We want our kids to compete in everything they do. In life, you have to compete for jobs, they have to compete for spouses, and they have to compete in life every day. We are excited, great things are happening in Quitman.”

Athletes who earned any type of honors were recognized. After being honored for all-district, region and state honors, athletes were named for team honors.
