Car show ready to roll into Mineola

Plans are finalized for one of the largest classic, vintage and muscle car shows ever held in East Texas on Saturday September 26th that the Mineola Civic Center, Mineola Texas. The show will feature cars from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana at the Sixth Annual event hosted by the Lake Country Classics Car Club.

The public is invited to the free event.

"Support from Wood County businesses has enabled our club to provide over $5,000 in cash prizes plus first class trophies and plaques for over 100 winners", said Larry Barnes, show chairman. "We will have a large circus tent in the center of the parking area to provide shade for contestants and visitors. Several vendors will be serving food or displaying their products as well."

The show will begin at 9 a.m. with door prizes and a special surprise presentation planned at 10:30 am featuring Kacey Musgraves, award-winning Country Music Star from the Mineola area. Awards will begin at 2pm.,

"Our success is credited to the many Wood County businesses that have generously supported this year's show with sizeable sponsorships," said Bill Beech, club secretary and sponsorship chairman. "We have nearly 20 additional sponsorships this year and many have increased their sponsorship levels. "This important support will provide for over $5,000 in cash prizes and drawings for participants in the show. In addition, we have over 100 door prizes and lots of products for each participant in gift bags at registration.

This year's show has added new classes for those cars and trucks that have previously won a best of show at other car shows. It has been tagged the "Texas Best of the Best" for cars and for trucks. Only 25 vehicles will be allowed in each class competing for a $1000 top prize.

Another addition this year is Dr. Dave Bilderback as DJ and MC. The talented announcer has an extensive history with classic automobiles and will keep visitors entertained with trivia questions and prizes and great music from the 50's and 60's.
