Quitman ISD to close for a week
Quitman School Superintendent Rhonda Turner announced Friday afternoon that all three QISD campuses would be closed Monday for a week.
The primary concern was a significant number of staff members at the elementary campus who tested positive for COVID-19, or who have been quarantined, that left an inadequate number of personnel to monitor all students.
Turner said the junior and senior high campuses have adequate personnel but would also close as some families depend upon older students to look after younger siblings.
All students will receive instruction at home Monday though Wednesday, and Thursday and Friday will be considered school holidays – days built into this year's calendar for such a situation.
