The Quitman Junior High Lady Bulldogs track and field team put together a dominant performance last Monday in Mt. Vernon for first place in the 7th and 8th grade girls’ divisions.  Seventh grade finished the night with 205 points and eighth grade finished with 152 points.

The seventh grade was led by several athletes who made up the top 10 overall athletes for the district in points. Quitman held the following spots: first Addison Sapp with 32 points, third Annabelle Hollinquest with 30 points, fifth Payton Spears with 23 points, seventh Erin Vander Schaaf with 22 points and tied for tenth Isabella Crockett with 20 points. The Lady Bulldogs received points in every event except shot and pole vault. Several personal records were set.

The eighth grade was led by a trio of athletes who made up the top 10 overall athletes for the district in points. Quitman held fourth, Cooper Marcee with 28 points, seventh Chloe Jones with 21 points and tenth Kinsey Hipp with 20 points. The Lady Bulldogs received points in every event except shot put.

“When you look at this group of young ladies and see the fierce competitiveness it shows for the future to be extremely bright in Quitman,” said Athletic Director Shane Webber. “Having both groups win first place shows their ability to compete, work hard, face adversity and to be proud of themselves, their teammates, and to be a Lady Bulldog. As a coach you hope your athletes will work hard and show up when race day comes. These young ladies not only showed up but showed out. Their potential is endless, they did everything asked of them; they competed strong and won big.”
