District leader Edgewood used an 18-1 run in the second quarter to blow open a close game and take a 31 to 5 lead into the half before finally subduing the Quitman Lady Bulldogs 66-14. Edgewood’s full court pressure caught up with Quitman in the second quarter causing several turnovers which the visitor’s turned into easy buckets.
Edgewood came out firing three point shots as they hit three in a row to extend their lead to 41-7. Another trey by Edgewood’s Addison Prater at the buzzer put them up 56-7 going into the final quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Quitman got some scoring from Madalyn Spears, Shelby Hayes and Lucy Brannon. Hayes scored three points the old fashion way hitting a shot at the bucket and hitting a free throw after being fouled. The Quitman defense tightened up in the final stanza allowing just 10 points to Edgewood.
Spears led Quitman with seven points while Brannon added four, Tanner two and Kynlee Love one.
The Lady Bulldogs will play at home Friday night as it will be the final home appearance for Molly Tanner, the lone senior on the squad she will be recognized during Senior Night.
