Quitman Lady Bulldogs roll past Grand Saline
The Quitman Lady Bulldogs rolled past another former district rival last week, sweeping the Grand Saline Indians 25-20, 26-24, 25-13 and raising their season slate to 4-5.
The Lady Bulldogs fell behind early in game one 8-2. Led by Ava Burroughs and Halie Davis with kills at the net and the back row consistency of Maddy Pence, Lindsey Hornaday and Brooklyn Marcee, the team charged back to take a lead and dominate. Also a key was the passing and setting of Carley Spears.
After taking a closer 26-24 win in the second set, the Lady Bulldogs blasted Grand Saline in the final set in dominating fashion 25-13 win.
Stats for the game were Carley Spears three kills, 21 assists, four digs, three aces; Ava Burroughs 14 kills, seven assists, four digs, five blocks; Maddy Pence 11 digs, two aces; Halie Davis five kills, one ace; and Lindsey Hornaday three kills, seven digs.
Quitman plays at Grace Community in Tyler Friday afternoon and hosts Wills Point Tuesday.
