During July, the Quitman Public Library will host Healthy Summer Meals for Kids every Tuesday – Friday at 11 a.m. This is a no-cost program to ensure that kids 18 years and younger have a balanced hot meal during the summer. Also, Money Camp for children ages 5 – 10 years is each Tuesday and Thursday in July from 10 a.m. – noon at the library. The camp is sponsored by City National Bank and Capital One as part of a regional literacy initiative of A Circle of 10, Inc. Martha Scroggins will be this year’s camp host. The 2nd Friday Acoustical Jam is Friday, July 13 from 6 – 9 p.m. Acoustical instruments only and listeners are always welcome. Beans and cornbread served at 7 p.m. This is a free event.

Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s main gallery, and it will meet throughout the summer. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group for this free instruction.
QPL’s Get GED Ready class is on summer break and will resume September 6, 2018. For more information, call or stop by the library.

Friends of the Library
The Friends will be on summer break until Tuesday, September 11, 2018. The Friends of the Quitman Public Library is an active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the library.
The Wood County TX Genealogical Society will have volunteers on hand throughout the summer to assist you with your family history research, according to WCTGS President, David Gilbreath. In the lobby showcase during July, is a collection of interesting donations the library has acquired through the years. Among the interesting items is a 1955 Flora Lodge centennial plate.
