August is National Golf Month, so let your first swing be by the Quitman Public Library to check out our large collection of some of the best books on golf.
Quitman Public Library joins libraries across the country to remind parents that the most important school supply of all is a library card! Patron cards are available for those residents who can provide proof of residence in Wood County and photo identification. A guardian must sign for children ages 5 - 17.

The 2nd Friday Acoustical Jam is Friday, August 10 from 6 – 9 p.m. Musicians of all ages and musical levels are invited to join in from 6 – 9 p.m. in the library’s community room. There will be an open mic set-up for those who wish to perform. Listeners are always welcome. This is a free event. For more information, call 903-975-5745.

Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s main gallery, and it will meet throughout the summer. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group for this free instruction.
QPL’s Get GED Ready is on summer break and will resume Thursday, September 6, 2018. For more information, call or stop by the library.
Beginning this fall, QPL Story Time will move to Wednesday’s at 2 p.m. Upcoming Story Time themes: Sept 5 – “A Field Trip!” We will tour the Wood County Courthouse; Sept 12 – “Easy Food For Kids” We will have a cooking class with Charla Sampson; Sept 19 – “It’s Shark Week!”; Sept 26 – “Eat Your Vegetables” We will create a vegetable platter. Friends of the Library
The Friends will be on summer break until Tuesday, September 11, 2018. The Friends of the Quitman Public Library is an active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the library.
