Quitman Library Connections
The library’s summer programs, “Get Ready...Get Set...READ,” Money Camp and the Summer Meals for Kids have ended, and special thanks extended to the clubs, businesses and individuals who helped the Quitman Public Library make this a great summer for the kids.
The next 2nd Friday Acoustical Music Circle is Friday, Aug. 12, 6 - 9 p.m. Acoustic musicians of all ages and musical levels are invited to join in, and listeners are always welcome. Refreshments will be available. For more information, call 903-952-8305.

Adult Services
Knitting and crochet instructor Virginia Hoffpauir invites everyone to bring their own supplies and join her group for a fun time of free instruction. Stop by the library’s main gallery each Thursday, 2 – 4 p.m.
Art classes will not meet during the month of August, but will start up again as an art club which will meet each Thursday beginning Sept. 1, at 5 p.m.
Genealogy
The Wood County Genealogical Society invites visitors to the library’s genealogy department to view family files and records of early settlers of Wood County. You may esearch online genealogical records using Ancestry.com, Heritage Quest, Geni, and the library’s database of digitized images. Also available is a microfilm reader/printer for viewing the Wood County Democrat (1914-2015). Call 903-763-4191 for more information.
Children’s Services
The Story Time Gang will not meet during the summer months, but will resume in September in conjunction with the Quitman School District calendar.
Friends of the Library
After a summer break, the Friends of the Quitman Public Library will meet again on Tuesday, Sept. 13, to plan a fall book sale. Officers for fiscal year 2017 will be Diane Moseley – president, Cathy Dye – vice president, Lillian Gray – secretary and Kim Watterson – treasurer.
