Quitman Library Connections
The Quitman Public Library Summer Reading 2019 begins June 5 with a kick-off party at Gov. Jim Hogg City Park, where we will discover “A Universe of Stories!” There will be lots of splash pad fun, water games, and bubbles, so bring your swimsuits and towels and prepare to get soaked. Stop by the library for your game card. Prizes will be awarded on June 26, so get that game card filled up!
Looking for a job? Jim Kinsel from Workforce Solutions of East Texas is at the Quitman Public Library each first Friday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. to assist job-seekers. The next workshop is Friday, June 7. No appointment is necessary.
Notary service is available at the library during regular business hours, but to guarantee an appointment, call 903-763-4191.

Patron cards are for Wood County residents with photo identification. A guardian must sign for children ages 5-17. Adult Services
Rebekah Yeager and Virginia Hoffpauir invite you to free crochet and knitting instruction each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s main lobby. All ages and skill levels are welcome.
Online GED test preparatory registration and course assistance is available on Thursdays (language arts) and Fridays (mathematics) from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Children’s Services
QPL Story Time is on break until Sept. 25. Special thanks to Peoples Telephone for sponsoring QPL Story Time crafts and activities.
Friends of the Library
Friends of the Quitman Public Library will reconvene in September after a summer break. Friends of the Quitman Public Library is an active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the library. Membership applications are available at the library’s front desk
On Display
In the lobby showcase is a display of “Botanicals” from the collection of nationally known artist Bart Soutendijk. Some of the pieces are available for purchase.
