Quitman Library Connections
Check out what’s new at the Quitman Public Library. A holiday collection of books for pleasure reading, movies with a holiday theme, and books with recipe and decorating ideas to make Christmas extra special are displayed near the check-out desk.
If you need help finding the right job, Jim Kinsel from Workforce Solutions of East Texas will be at the library on Friday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. to assist job seekers. No appointment necessary.
The public is invited to attend the Friends of the Quitman Public Library meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 10. Special guests will be the FUMC - Quitman Handbell Choir under the direction of Becky Bradfield. You may sign up for the monthly Friends of the Quitman Public Library Newsletter by contacting Rebekah Yeager at 903-763-4191. Friends is an active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the library and welcomes new members throughout the year.
The 2nd Friday Acoustical Jam is Friday, Dec. 13 from 6-9 p.m. in the library’s community room. Musicians of all ages and musical levels are invited to join in. There is an open mic set-up for those who wish to perform. Listeners are always welcome. For more information, call Eugene Allen at 903-975-5745.
The Wood County TX Genealogical Society invites researchers to commemorate their family’s rich and deep history this holiday season. The society has workshops on the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Shamburger Community Room. Online GED test preparatory course assistance is available on Tuesdays (language arts) and Fridays (mathematics) from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Visit www.ged.com to create your account.
Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday, 2-4 p.m. in the library’s main lobby. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group for free instruction.

QPL Story Time is every Wednesday at 2 p.m. The program is designed for pre-schoolers and home-schooled students. Special thanks go to Peoples Communications – Quitman for sponsoring this year’s crafts. For more information, contact Terri Bennett at 903-763-4191.
