Summer Reading 2020 is happening at the Quitman Public Library during June. The program, “Imagine Your Story,” is aimed for elementary-aged children. Reading cards are available at the library’s front desk or you may print yours online. Each Wednesday, there will be an activity designed to comply with social distancing. Those activities will include sidewalk chalk creations, planting a mini-garden, super-soaker fun, a storybook character costume party and more. For more information, call Terri Bennett at 903-763-4191.

The library is open and providing public service in accordance with current state guidelines. Social distancing and wearing protective masks are strongly encouraged. All patron areas are regularly disinfected with industrial grade sanitizer.

Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday, 2-4 p.m. in the Shamburger Community Room, and it will meet throughout the summer. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group for this free instruction.

The Wood County TX. Genealogical Society will have volunteers on hand throughout the summer to assist with family history research. Call 903-763-4191 to schedule an appointment or contact a member through the society’s Facebook page.

Patron cards are available for those who provide photo identification and proof of residence in Wood County. A guardian must sign for children ages 5-17.
