January is National “Get Organized” Month. Near the front desk is a media display of self-help books filled with ideas to help you clear, or at least control, the clutter for your new year.

Friends of the Quitman Public Library are hoping to reconvene regular second Tuesday meetings at noon on Feb. 9. Officers for FY21 are Jackie Gilbreath-president, Carley Tucker-vice president, Rebekah Yeager-secretary and Tonia Nix-treasurer.

Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday, 2-4 p.m. in the Thurman Shamburger Community Room. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group for free instruction. Bring patterns to swap with others. Masks and social distancing are required for this group.

The Wood County TX Genealogical Society meets each third Monday at 7 p.m. in the Shamburger Community Room. Contact David Gilbreath at 972-977-7988 for meeting confirmation and follow the society’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/groups/woocotx.

Adult GED support services are available for students who have registered online at www.ged.com. Assistance in reading/writing skills and math is available in the public computer area on Wednesdays during library hours.

In the lobby showcase during January is a collection of photographs and keepsakes on loan from Rebekah Yeager depicting the time she and her family spent living in Africa.
