National Family History Month is observed in October. The Quitman Public Library along with the Wood County TX Genealogical Society invites family researchers, historians and storytellers to commemorate their family’s rich and deep history this month by allowing us to assist with beginning your genealogical tree. A display in the lobby will highlight a collection of family tree charts, family history stories and photographs. The society will meet on Monday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. in the library Shamburger Community Room. For more information, contact David Gilbreath at 972-977-7988 and visit the society’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/groups/woocotx.

Photographers of all levels are invited to the “In-Focus Photography Club of East Texas” that meets every 4th Monday at the library at 5:30 p.m.

Cancer Cysters and Breast Friends support group meets in the library community room on the last Tuesday of each month from 6-8 p.m. Call 903-850-3978 for more information

The Friends meet Tuesday, Oct. 12 at noon for an hour of fellowship and fun. This year’s membership drive is in full swing, and you are invited to join this active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the Quitman Public Library.
