Quitman Library Connections
Don’t miss our free “Kick the Sugar Cravings” class on Thursday, Feb. 15 from 1-2 p.m. presented by Denise Nix INHC, CFNC and sponsored by Natural Grocers in Tyler. Denise graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition with a health coach certification and is also a certified functional nutrition counselor through the Functional Nutrition Alliance. You will learn how blood sugar impacts health and the steps to maintain a healthy blood sugar balance to support increased energy, positive mood, better sleep and more.
February is Black History Month, and the library is highlighting this with a selection of books in the children’s section as well in the display near the front check-out area. Patrons may also connect to our library’s vast collection of eBooks, audio books and streaming videos by downloading the Libby® and SimplyE® apps.
The Friends of the Quitman Public Library invite the public to join this volunteer group of library supporters at monthly one-hour meetings on second Thursdays at noon. Officers for FY24 are President Jackie Blalock, Vice President Sue Reynolds, Secretary Anita Nance and Treasurer Rebekah Yeager.
There is something happening almost every day of the week at the library. Free knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday, 2-4 p.m. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and patterns to trade.
Wood County Metal Detector Club, led by Jerry Tinney, meets on first Mondays at 6:30 p.m.
Whyte Dove Writers’ Club, a distinctive group of local published authors, meets monthly on second Tuesdays from 6-8:30 p.m.
The Wood County TX Genealogical Society meets each 3rd Monday at 5 p.m. in the library community room.
Painted Ladies meet regularly for painting instruction and projects, and Jean Chancellor is the contact, 903-763-8585.
Notary service is generally available at the library during regular business hours, but to guarantee an appointment, call 903-763-2665. Notary fee is $10 per document.

Patron cards are for Wood County residents with photo identification. A guardian must sign for children ages 5-17.
