Quitman and Mineola marching bands received first division ratings at regional marching competition Tuesday. They will travel to Carthage on Saturday to compete at area.

Quitman, Mineola bands march on to area

The Mineola High School marching band began its state marching title defense Tuesday at the region marching contest in Texarkana, earning a first division rating to advance to area Saturday, Oct. 26 at Carthage High School Stadium.

The Quitman High School marching band also received a first division rating and will compete in the area contest Saturday in Carthage.

The Alba-Golden marching band received a rating of three.

Mineola is scheduled to perform at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday in Carthage. Quitman's performance time is 2 p.m. Find the full schedule here: [pdf]

The two bands will be competing with twenty-six other area bands for a place in the finals Saturday evening. Bands advancing to finals will perform a second time for a chance to qualify for the state marching competition to be held Nov. 6 in San Antonio.
