Quitman Pilot Club planning annual chili cookoff

Posted

The Quitman Pilot Club’s Chili Cook-Off will be Friday, Jan. 31 from 6 -8 p.m. at the Carroll Green Civic Center in Quitman. Well-loved and known for a fun time in support of a good cause, it’s the place to get your fill of tasty and memorable chili.

Entry fee for cooks is $25, along with a $25 gift card, or $50 without a gift card. The gift cards will be used to build high-dollar raffle buckets that will be raffled the night of the event. There are also several sponsorship opportunities. For the entry and sponsorship forms, visit the Quitman Pilot Club Facebook page to download or email  Fonda827@gmail.com to request the forms.

Dale “The C” Cummings will keep the crowd entertained and energized.  There will be a lively dessert auction and awards for best chili, best booth, people’s choice and others.

Tickets are $10 each for those 13 and older and $5 for  12 and under. They will be available from any Quitman Pilot, the night of the event at the door or email Chairwoman Fonda McBride at Fonda827@gmail.com.

All funds raised will support the non-profit and all-volunteer Quitman Pilot Club and the stated mission of providing education for the prevention of traumatic brain injury; and offering services to those suffering from brain-related disorders such as Alzheimer’s, stroke and autism. Bicycle Safety, Project LifeSaver and Special Olympics are some of those efforts important to the health, safety and quality of life.

Chairwoman Fonda McBride said, “We always have such a fun time while generating a large part of our annual budget needed for the programs we support. We are so grateful for the way the community and our sponsors support and embrace this fundraiser. It’s become a hallmark event for our community.”
