Quitman Police Report
April 28
Officer Joe Andrade was dispatched to N. Winnsboro St. about a power line down. He called for Quitman Volunteer Fire Dept. and Wood County Electric Cooperative. Someone had been cutting down a tree and hit a power line. QVFD stayed on location until WCEC fixed the line.
April 30
Officer Jim Rapp took a report of a possible burglary on Pucket St. The complainant advised they had been out of town for a few days and when they returned home they discovered someone had taken a dime collection valued at $100 to $200.
May 3
Officer Linda Williams took a call at the Mt. Calvary Church on Bookman St. Williams met with the subject who said they found a side door open. Williams cleared the church to make sure no one was inside. There was no sign of forced entry and nothing was missing.
May 6
Officers received a call of a reckless driver. The vehicle was located on Winnsboro St. Officer Rapp made a stop on the vehicle at the Quitman Post Office. Officer Austin Milbourn assisted with the stop. The driver, Donald Lindsey of Como, was operating the vehicle. After field sobriety testing was done, it was learned that the subject was intoxicated. The subject was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated and taken to jail.
May 7
Officer Rapp was called concerning a lost wallet. Complainant advised that they had put their wallet on top of their vehicle while at the vet office and drove off. Rapp drove to the office and checked the area and did locate the wallet and it was returned to the owner.
