Quitman Police Report

March 6

Officer Jim Rapp was dispatched to the BTH Bank parking lot for a disturbance. Rapp met with a couple who had been arguing, but they advised there was no physical violence. The couple were arguing over the boss of the male subject making advances on him and the girlfriend finding out. Rapp advised that both parties agreed to discuss the situation calmly, so they could decide what to do next. Both parties left the parking lot without further incident.

March 7

Officer Rapp responded to a criminal mischief report from the owner of the All In Auto car lot on S. Main St. The owner reported that he had damage to the flagging and poles surrounding his lot. He believes the damage occurred between 5 p.m. March 6 and 1:30 p.m. March 7 and it appeared to be that someone drove through the flagging and poles. The damages were estimated at $200. This case is under further investigation. 

March 8

Officer Rapp met with a reporting person at the Quitman Police Dept. about a disturbance involving an assault that occurred on Randy Road the day before. The reporting person advised that her son’s father had assaulted her, and she wanted to pursue charges. After further investigation, Rapp secured a warrant for assault causing bodily injury-family violence for Michael Gallimore. On March 9 Gallimore was arrested and transported to Wood County jail.

March 9

Officer Rapp and Detective Clint Perkins were dispatched to a residence on Eastside Drive for a dispute in progress. Rapp spoke to a male subject who advised he and his girlfriend had been arguing and he called the police, so he didn’t have any false allegations brought against him. Officers spoke to both parties and were told there was no physical violence. The female advised officers she was going to work and advised there would be no further arguing.

Sgt. Delton Graves was dispatched to the Dogwood Villa Apartments for the strong odor of marijuana. Graves arrested Michael Dawson for possession of marijuana over two ounces and under four ounces and transported him to Wood County jail.

March 13 

Officer Perkins was dispatched to the Heritage nursing home for a combative patient who had assaulted a nurse. Perkins found out that the family of the combative patient was going to be signing him out and he would not be allowed to return to the facility. This case is under further investigation.

March 14

Sgt. Graves responded to a residence on Tina St. after receiving a phone call from a reporting person that someone was standing in her kitchen. Graves observed the reporting person and a white male standing on her porch. Graves spoke to the white male identified as Daniel Johnson and found him to be under the influence of narcotics. Graves arrested Johnson for public intoxication and transported him to the Wood County jail.

Sgt. Graves was dispatched to the Brookshires Grocery Store at 5:21 a.m. where it was reported that they had a white female who ran in the store from the loading dock area and then ran out. Graves spoke to management who advised they wanted to pursue charges on the white female identified as Holly Smith, who entered the store without the effective consent of the manager. Graves arrested Smith for criminal trespass, and she was transported to the Wood County jail.

March 19

Sgt. Graves made a traffic stop on a silver pickup with no headlights or taillights on East Goode St. Graves could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle. After asking the driver identified as Tommy Workman to step out of the vehicle, Graves asked for consent to search his vehicle and consent was granted. Sgt. Graves found pills on Workman’s person and in the vehicle that were not in the original prescribed containers. Workman was placed under arrest for possession of controlled substance PG 1 under 28 grams in a drug free zone, and Workman was transported to the Wood County jail. 

 March 22

Officer Rapp was dispatched to Bonita St. because the reporting person advised his belongings had been placed outside on the porch by his cousin and it was his home. Rapp advised both parties that this was a civil issue. The cousin advised the reporting person was taking advantage of his parents. The reporting person advised he would go stay at a different location and get his belongings later. There was no violence, but an incident report was made.

March 25    

Chief of Police John Farmer was dispatched to 431 Clark St. for a travel trailer fire. Quitman Fire Chief Scott Wheeler advised it appeared the fire started around a refrigerator in the trailer, and the trailer was not occupied at the time of the fire. All power was disconnected from the trailer, and the owner came home while police and fire were still on the scene. The owner advised he was not insured for damages to the trailer.

Chief Farmer took an incident report from a reporting person who advised someone had used his debit card number in Saginaw. The reporting person advised that the card number was used at an Exxon convenience store for $99.63. The reporting person advised that his bank requested a police report. Farmer advised the reporting person to also notify the Saginaw Police Dept. to pursue charges. 

Chief  Farmer was dispatched to Smith St. for a juvenile female threatening suicide. Farmer spoke to the reporting person who advised she was the mother of the juvenile who was threatening to kill herself. Chief Farmer spoke to the 15-year-old female who admitted to saying she was going to kill herself to her mother, but said she did not mean it. EMS was called, and the juvenile advised she would go voluntarily with EMS to the hospital to speak to a doctor and be evaluated. EMS transported the juvenile to the hospital.
