Quitman Police Report
October 19
Sgt. Clint Perkins responded to a call of a bomb threat at Peoples Telephone at 102 N. Stephens St. Perkins contacted the administration and after looking at the email received by Peoples it appeared to be spam email. The email stated three bombs had been placed around a data center and never mentioned Peoples Telephone. The email requested $5,000 be sent to a link in the message and had been sent the night before. A check of the email by the Wood County Sheriff’s Office showed it had been flagged on multiple occasions at other businesses and was originating from Europe. Perkins and Chief John Farmer secured the inside and outside of the building. No further information was received, and no further incidents occurred.
October 20
Officer Caitlyn Wilson made a traffic stop where Lindsey Bell was arrested for a warrant from the Euless Police Dept. for theft of property over $100 but under $750, and she was transported to the Wood County Jail.
Lt. Anita Tucker received information of a suspect who fled a disturbance where a female had been assaulted at Holiday Village Resort and he was enroute to Quitman on a scooter. Tucker verified a description with the Wood County Sheriff’s Dept. then located the subject, Corey Hollandsworth, traveling eastbound on East Goode St. Tucker detained Hollansworth until the Wood County Sheriff’s deputies could get to her location. Wood County Deputy Linda Williams took Hollandsworth into custody for assault by contact family violence.
October 21
Officer Wilson took a credit/debit card abuse report from a residence at the Heritage nursing home. The card owner had canceled her card after discovering several unauthorized transactions at various locations around East Texas. Wilson took all the information and turned the case over to criminal investigations.
October 25
Officer Joe Andrade responded to a criminal mischief report of a broken window at the Laundry Room at 701 E. Goode St. The owner was notified and asked for an estimated amount for the replacement. Later the owner advised she had been notified by a person who advised that she had accidentally broken the window and wanted to pay for the cost. This case is closed.
October 26
Officer Andrade arrested Cameron Hobbs for public intoxication in the 600 block of Lance Road. Hobbs had been in a dispute with his girlfriend prior to leaving the residence. Hobbs was transported to the Wood County Jail.
October 29
Officer Wilson was dispatched to an attempted burglary in the 800 block of Tucker St., where a window on a back door had been broken. After a search of the area officers were unable to locate a suspect. Wilson met with the reporting person and photographed the damaged door so that she could forward the case to investigations.
Lt. Tucker responded to take a theft report in the 800 block of N. Winnsboro St., where the reporting person advised that she had three guitars missing from her residence. The person advised Tucker that there were no signs of forced entry. This case will be forwarded to Criminal Investigations.
