Quitman Police Report
The Quitman Police Dept. responded to 58 calls for service, issued four citations, gave four warnings citations and six reports were taken.
On Thursday, Feb. 10, Chief John Farmer was dispatched to meet with a man at the UT Health Hospital about his 14-year-old daughter who ran away from him. While en route Farmer saw a man walking in front of Medlin Electric. Farmer spoke to the man who was the father of the female who had run into the woods. Officers from Quitman and the Wood County Sheriff’s Department began looking for the juvenile. The search started about 3:15 p.m. After not being able to find the 14-year-old for 45 minutes, Farmer called for assistance from Quitman Fire Chief Scott Wheeler. Wheeler called in other fire fighters and the juvenile was found by Wheeler and First Assistant Chief Junior Stovall about 6:33 p.m. Farmer transported the juvenile to the police department where all her information was taken, and she was released to her father.
Also on Thursday, Feb.10, the Police Department received a call from the owner of Greenlaw’s Construction who advised a white female was trespassing in his gated construction yard on Lipscomb St. Officer Joe Andrade was dispatched to Greenlaw’s and observed a white female inside the locked gated lot. Andrade observed the female, identified as Amie Kemp, to be intoxicated. After getting Kemp out of the lot, she was arrested for public intoxication. Kemp was transported to Wood County Jail for book in.
