Quitman power lifters advance to regional meet
Five Quitman power lifting athletes advanced to the regional contest after competing throughout the season.
Gatha Davis earned 11th place in the 165-pound weight class, and Shelby Compton was ninth place in the 220-pound weight class.
Langdon Bautista qualified and earned fourth place in the 148-pound weight class, Justin Blalock placed sixth in the 275-pound weight class, and River Chaney placed 11th in the 148-pound weight class.
Brooklyn Marcee, Bailey Hughes and Jaci Coley qualified as regional alternates. Marcee placed 13th in the 114-pound weight class, Hughes placed 15th in the 148-pound weight class, and Coley placed 15th in the 181-pound weight class.
Jeremy Peek is a regional alternate for the boys’ team. He received 13th place in the 220-pound weight class. Alternates have a chance of lifting at regionals if the athletes who placed above them in their weight class do not meet eligibility requirements.
