Quitman Rotary selects November students of month
Quitman seniors Jacob Day and Abby Dobbs were named the November Quitman Rotary students of the month.
Day is a member of the school band, One Act Play, Anchor Club, National Honor Society and tennis. His leadership roles include class president, student council treasurer and NHS historian. He was in the Region 3 Area Honor Band and regional qualifier for tennis last year. Day has also several acting awards in OAP.
After high school, he hopes to attend Tyler Junior College for two years and play in the Apache Marching Band. He then wants to transfer to Texas A&M University and pursue a career in psychiatry.
He is the son of Ashley Rye and Steven Day.
Dobbs is involved in varsity cheer, volleyball, basketball, golf and FFA. She is the historian in NHS, Interact Club and student council. She has a few options for college, such as Texas A&M and Louisiana State University.
She plans to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine. After graduating vet school, she plans to move to a bigger city like Chicago, where she will open her own practice.
She is the daughter of David and Michelle Dobbs.
