Raleigh Roy Langhoff, longtime resident of Quitman, passed away on May 30, 2022 in Tyler.

Roy was born in Shiner on Jan. 5, 1944 to Hilton and Birdie Mae Langhoff. After he graduated from Yoakum High School in 1962, he attended Texas A&M University and obtained his bachelor’s degree in animal/dairy science. While at A&M, he was the president of his animal science class.

Roy married the love of his life, Mary Anne, on Sept. 5, 1964 at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Sweet Home. After graduating college, Roy and Mary moved to Tyler. In 1966, Roy began working at Cabell’s Dairy as a foreman and later became a state health inspector. He made Quitman his home in 1977.

Roy and Mary welcomed three children, Robert, Lisa and Sheri. Roy was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Holly Lake Ranch and former board member of Fouke Water Supply.

Most of his life he was involved in many aspects of agriculture from dairy farming to raising cattle and poultry production. Pappy enjoyed his afternoon drives checking on his animals and catching up with his friends. Roy also enjoyed watching and attending Aggie football games and tailgating, but most of all loved being “Pappy.” His grandchildren were his whole world.

Roy is welcomed into heaven by his parents, Hilton and Birdie Langhoff; and two brothers, Claude Langhoff and RC Langhoff.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Anne Langhoff of Quitman; three children, Robert Langhoff and wife Candi of Winnsboro, Lisa Murray of Corsicana and Sheri Mathison and husband Justin of Paradise; seven grandchildren, Alex Bailey and husband Jaxon, Amber Cox and husband Kade, Cain Langhoff and wife Camri, Nolan Murray, Kenleigh Murray, Austin Mathison and Payton Mathison; four great-grandchildren, Joleigh Cox, Gia Cox, Luke Bailey and Lily Bailey; and numerous friends.
