Raymond Boyd Gilbreath, 1948-2018

Funeral services for Raymond Boyd Gilbreath, 90 of Yantis were 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel of the Chimes with Shannon Hassell and Craig Vance officiating. Interment followed at Rock Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Gilbreath passed away at his home on Dec. 27, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, Delta and Velma Lois Gilbreath; his beloved Aunt Eulamae; son, Timmy Gilbreath; and brother, Billy Gilbreath.

Boyd and Eldavada were married on Dec. 18, 1948. They lived in the Dallas area when Boyd went to Korea. He served and fought bravely on the 38th Parallel. After his return from Korea, he worked at Murray’s gin. He attended barber college in Dallas to learn to cut hair and later worked at SMU Barber College.

Boyd and Eldavada decided to make their home in Yantis. Eldavada and her Daddy Perry Gilbreath rebuilt the home where they raised four boys, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Boyd was a barber for over 59 years in Yantis and Como. He was a member of the Yantis Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Eldavada Gilbreath; and his sons, Randall Gilbreath of Terrell, Keith Gilbreath of Cibolo, and Glenn of Levelland. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins and extended family.
