City National Bank celebrates 125 years
The Quitman branch of City National Bank recently celebrated their 125th anniversary with a visit from District 5 State Representative Bryan Hughes. Hughes presented a proclamation to Quitman Mayor J.R. Evans and City National Bank vice president Jerry Jackson, commemorating the bank's 125 years of business. According to the proclamation, City National Bank opened its first branch in Sulphur Springs in 1889, making it one of the oldest institutions in East Texas. Hughes thanked the employees of City National Bank for their service to the community, and noted that local banking institutions are vital in the success of the state's economy.
