Richard E. Young 1945-2020

Richard E. Young passed away peacefully at his home Sunday July 26, 2020, with his family by his side. He was born Nov. 26, 1945 in Fort Worth. He grew up in Houston and graduated from Milby High School in Houston. He attended college at Stephen F. Austin and earned his bachelor’s degree from Houston Baptist University in 1974. Richard served in the U.S. Navy for six years and was honorably discharged after a tour in Ethiopia. He retired from Southwestern Bell after 26 years with the company. After retirement Richard and his wife Linda moved to Lake Holbrook. He was a wonderful husband to his wife Linda Young for the past 20 years. He enjoyed cooking, playing golf, being outdoors, gardening and spending time with friends and family. 

Richard was a great joke teller, and his sense of humor and friendship will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Young; mother, Virginia Cozzens Young; and brother, Thomas Young. He is survived by his wife, Linda Young of Mineola; son, Rob Young of Redlands, Cal.; stepson, Gunnar Webb and daughter-in-law Vicki Moody of Mineola; stepdaughter, Angel Brown and son-in-law Micah Crossland of Wolfe City; brother and sister-in-law, David and Danelle Goodman of Mineola; and grandchildren, McKenzie Crossland and Avery Crossland, Micahel Webb, Gabriel Webb and Cayden Webb; and great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Conner. The family wishes to the thank Caring Hearts Hospice of Mineola for their devotion and support. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in Richard’s name to Shriners Hospital for Children.
