Robert Lynn Wilson (Bob), 1945-2019

Robert Lynn Wilson (Bob) was born in San Angelo on June 2, 1945. He graduated from W.W. Samuell High School in Dallas in 1963 and Stephen F. Austin University in 1968 with a degree in forestry. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and completed Officer Candidate School and pilot training, serving in Vietnam and Korea and receiving numerous commendations and decorations for valor and promotions.

Bob retired from the Air Force after 21 years as a lieutenant colonel. Following stints as a consultant to Lockheed Martin and Loral Corporation, he retired a second time to Rock Falls Lake in Mineola where he enjoyed fishing, golf and numerous trips to Alaska for more fishing.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Waymon and Bessie Rae Wilson. He is survived by his brother, Douglas, of Spring; sister, Beth Shockey of Mineola; son, Daniel, of Katy; daughter, Leslie, of Houston; granddaughter, Evangeline; and numerous family members and dear friends.

Bob died on Dec. 5, 2019.

Interment is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 at Houston National Cemetery. 

A celebration of Bob Wilson’s life will be held for family and friends at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. with refreshments and fellowship to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
