Deputies were dispatched to CR 1840 near Yantis at 8:51 p.m. in reference to an assault. Ronney Byrd, 70, of Yantis was arrested for alleged aggravated assault with a weapon.
Deputies were dispatched to Pine Bark Glen near Hawkins at 9:19 p.m. in reference to shots fired. Deputies determined it was fireworks and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to Texas 154 near Quitman at 12:53 a.m. in reference to theft. A person known to the complainant allegedly stole two belt buckles from the reporting party’s residence.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4494 near Leesburg at approximately 5 a.m. in reference to a fire. Perryville Fire Department extinguished the fire and the scene was cleared.
Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 2263 near Mineola at approximately 10:36 a.m. Daniel West, 29, of Tyler, was arrested for failure to identify.
Deputies were dispatched to CR 1700 near Yantis at 11:12 a.m. in reference to an inquest. A male, 84, was found deceased in his residence. The justice of the peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered.
Deputies were dispatched to FM 17 near Yantis at 5:31 p.m. in reference to an inquest. A male, 71, was found deceased in his residence. The justice of the peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered.
Deputies were dispatched to PR 6254 near Hawkins at 6:10 p.m. in reference to shots fired. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party at 12:05 p.m. in reference to suspicious circumstances on Texas Hwy 11 near Winnsboro. Deputies advised the reporting party that extra patrol would be provided.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2157 near Quitman at 10:54 p.m. in reference to a disturbance. Glen Gooch, 43, of Quitman, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
Between the dates of Dec. 19 and Dec. 25, Wood County Sheriff’s deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following: Smith County Sheriff’s Office, Quitman Police Department and Mineola Police Department.
December 23rd
Deputies were dispatched to CR 2651 near Mineola at 5:19 a.m. in reference to a fire. Mineola Fire Department extinguished the fire and the incident was cleared.
Deputies were dispatched to PR 6394 near Alba at 9:01 a.m. in reference to an abandoned 911 call. Jaxson Lane, 19, of Alba was arrested for possession of marijuana. Tod White, 50, of Alba was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
Deputies were dispatched to Village Trail near Hawkins at 6:15 p.m. in reference to a disturbance. Steven Tobias, 48, of Hawkins, was arrested for assault causing bodily injury to family/household member with a previous conviction.

Deputies were dispatched o CR 1431 near Quitman at 7:53 a.m. in reference to a burglary. Someone stole several items from the reporting party’s son’s vehicle. This case is active.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3496 near Hawkins at 7:25 a.m. in reference to an inquest. A male, 68, was found deceased in his residence. The justice of the peace arrived and ordered an autopsy.
