Shirley “Sammy” Reed-Rue, 1931-2020
Shirley “Sammy” Reed-Rue, 88, of Mineola passed away Oct. 26, 2020 in Mineola. She was born on Dec. 25, 1931, in California.
She was married to Roy Reed for 29 years and Freeman Rue for almost 22 years. She was a mother and worked 22 years for the Department of Motor Vehicles in Long Beach, Cal.. She was a Girl Scout leader and loved the outdoors.
Sammy was preceded in death by her husbands, Roy and Freeman; sister, Patricia Chilvers; and brother, Robert Moore. Sammy is survived by her daughters, Kathie Shanks, Lori Shipman and Stacy Black; stepdaughters, Jane Strawn, Cecilia Mullins and Laura Caldwell; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Reflections Hospice of Texas, Alzheimer Association or the Mineola League of the Arts.
Graveside services will be for immediate family only due to COVID. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
