Something for everyone during planes, trains and automobiles

Planes, trains and automobiles is coming to Mineola on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The automobiles will be the Iron Horse Car and Truck Show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. downtown on Commerce and S. Johnson Streets.

The trains will be a model train display set up from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the train depot on Front St. by the Smith County N Scale Club. The Halloween mini-train at Iron Horse Square Park will also be running from 6-9 p.m.

And the planes will be the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1475’s annual Chili Dog Fly In from 10-2 at Wisener Field in West Mineola.

Car show registration is from 8-10 a.m. with a $20 entry fee and coffee and doughnuts while they last. Awards will be announced at 1:30 for numerous prizes. Call Ronnie at 903-253-3213 for information.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
