Brandon Cobb, an elite angler from South Carolina, won his second Elite Series bass fishing title after becoming champion at the Toyota Bassmaster Texas Fest at Lake Fork on Monday.

Cobb reeled a four-day total of 114 pounds of bass while competing May 2-6. With his first-place win, he earned $125,000 in prize money. He won his first Elite Series just last month at Lake Hartwell in South Carolina.

“This week just fell into place,” Cobb said of competing and winning Texas Fest. “It has been awesome.”

In addition to the championship, Cobb also caught the heaviest bass (11 pounds and one ounce) of the tournament, which earned him a 2019 Toyota Tundra. The 11-pounder was a personal best for the fisherman.

“That’s the biggest fish I’ve caught, and this lake is unbelievable,” Cobb said at the third weigh-in on Sunday.

Through his success at Texas Fest, Cobb joined an exclusive group of anglers by earning the Century Belt. This honor goes only to anglers who catch at least 100 pounds of bass at one of the Elite Series.

Second-place finisher Garrett Paquette of Michigan also reached the Century Belt goal with 101 pounds and 12 ounces catch weight. Paquette received $40,000 for his placing.

Micah Frazier came in third with a $30,000 prize and Brandon Card came in fourth with a $25,000 prize.

Jeff Gustafson (fifth), Drew Cook (sixth), Keith Combs (seventh), Chad Pipkens (eighth), Cory Johnston (ninth) and Drew Benton (tenth) each received $20,000 in prize money.

Bassmaster also gave back to the group that maintains Texas reservoirs like Lake Fork, TPWD. Texas Parks and Wildlife received $3.25 million to help in the department’s conservation efforts.

Wood County Industrial Commission served as the host for the Bassmaster tournament and fest alongside Lake Fork Chamber of Commerce, Sabine River Authority, Quitman Development Corp. and Emory Tourism.
