Spears sets pace for Lady Bulldogs at Emory Rains Avon Rice Relays
Quitman senior Madalyn Spears continued her sprint dominance this season by capturing the 100 meter and 200 meter sprints at the March 21 Rains Avon Rice Relays. Spears clocked a 12.46 in the 100 meters and a 27.72 in the 200 meters.
Teammate Brooklyn Marcee placed second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.10. Marcee also achieved a personal best with a pole vault of 11 feet. The vault won her a second place medal.
For the boys, Aiden Corrior also set a personal best with a high jump of 6 feet. The jump earned Corrior a first-place finish in the event. Bulldog teammate Gavin Derryberry flew 39-07.5 to capture third place in the triple jump.
Emory Rains, Frankston, Grace, Home Education Athletics, Kemp, Mount Pleasant, Chapel Hill, Quitman and Wills Point participated in the relays.
