The Mineola ISD School Board has called a special meeting for 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3 to consider a contract for the new superintendent.

That is the first day the board can consider a contract for Cody Mize, following a state-mandated 21-day waiting period. Mize is serving as Winona ISD ssuperintendent

The meeting will be held at the MISD Administration Building.

The contract is scheduled to be considered in closed session, and a public forum will follow.

The board is expected to take action on the contract following the forum.

Mize was named the lone finalist from among 45 applicants on Dec. 12.

He is a Mineola  native and will be replacing Kim Tunnell, who resigned in August following five years with the district.

Randy Hancock was hired as interim superintendent in September.
