Susan Lee Bennett Gilbert 1955-2019

Memorial services for Susan Lee Bennett Gilbert, 64, of Alba are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019 at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba with Pastor Jessey Mook officiating.

Mrs. Gilbert passed away Nov. 15, 2019 at her residence in Alba after a lengthy battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). She was born Sept. 9, 1955 in Phoenix, Ariz. to Charles Irvin and Carolyn Joberta Gatchell Bennett. Susan married Robert Lloyd Gilbert in Plano on Aug. 12, 1978. She had lived in Alba for the last four years and was a member of One Church in Sulphur Springs. She worked as an office manager for Grace House Ministries in Weatherford for five years. Susan was preceded in death by her father, Charles Bennett.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Robert Gilbert of Alba; mother, Carolyn Bennett of Sulphur Bluff; one son, Jason Gilbert and wife Devaney of Alba; one daughter, Natalie Mook and husband Jessey of Springfield, Mo.; two brothers, Charles Bennett of Shelton, Wash. and William Bennett and wife Beverly of Quinlan; three sisters, Bonnie Hobbs and husband Monty of Elizabeth, Ky., Laurie Harper and husband Rob of Cleveland and Cindy Bennett of Houston; four grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the funeral home.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
